It is clear that familiar ways of being are no longer to be. A previous existence has retreated so far into a distant realm that it cannot be ascertained or entertained.
Such are the consequences of tumultuous times.
Moving through these tribulations is akin to trudging through a deep valley of vain provocations, fraught with chaos and condemnations, separations and recriminations; a valley that is fortified by mountains harbouring an intense disdain within cavernous inky blue spaces that meander between treacherous expanses of dense, midnight green vegetation.
However, this valley is no credible match for a peace that is birthed from the fires of a turmoil that restricts and denies, rooting out the superfluous and superficial for release into the embers of an unexpected destruction.
Despite such turbulent origins, the resulting peace is abundantly present in a myriad of circumstances; the gently unfurling fronds of a warm autumn breeze, gilded with pale saffron light that travels unhindered through ethereal mists; in the unaffected companionship of a butterfly flying freely from flower to leaf and up to the sky with graceful abandon; in the whispering leaves of poplar trees as they shimmer high above the ground in the brilliance of the summer sun; and sitting in the presence of a treasured animal companion listening to the hauntingly beautiful second movement from Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 1 in B flat.
Walking through the fiery demands of refinement is an arduous task.
There may be long periods of disconnection and misalignment with the immediate surroundings only serves to intensify feelings of separation. During this time a return to silence is necessary and work must be pared back to fundamental yet simple expressions in order to form a strong foundation for connections to that which is restorative—a life-sustaining potential that cannot be fully understood or restrained, but facilitates a customised path towards that which is true.
May these words reach you in courage and truth.
Sincerely,
SC
